“I Am From”

April 8, 2009

Writen by: Chancy Guttormson

I am from the country

It runs deep within my veins

From the horses hoof and dog’s woof

To the farmers grain.

I am from the barn

For where the animals sleep

It’s a safe haven there

To think nice and deep.

I am from the lightning night

For it soothes me quite

The thunder and the rain

They dissolve my pain.

I am from the restless mind

Always thinking

Almost saying

Keeping to the kind.

I am from the wolf

Howling long and loud

Although I cannot join them

I stand strong and proud.

I am from the woods

Protecting the known and unseen

From the dangers of this earth

I try to keep it clean.
